Our 2024 Mandarin Club for girls and boys in Year 5 started on Tuesday 9 January and runs weekly during term-time until the end of the summer term.
At Queen's we are extremely proud of our Confucius Classroom status and are keen to ensure that local children are given the opportunity to learn the world’s most widely-spoken language with a weekly after-school club.
Girls and boys in Year 5 learn basic conversational Mandarin at our Senior School with our CLEC (Centre for Language Education and Cooperation) teacher. As experts, not only in language and culture, but traditional crafts such as origami, knot-making, wushu, abacus and fan dancing, the CLEC teacher has enabled us to promote Chinese language and culture within our own school and the local community.
Children will:
• Meet our Chinese CLEC teacher
• Benefit from the opportunities, resources and expertise that come from The Queen’s School’s Confucius Classroom status.
• Activities focus on language learning and will cover many Chinese cultural topics, such as music, crafts, calligraphy, dance and festivals.
Registration opens in December for the next course which will begin in January 2025. For more information please contact our Admissions Manager on 01244 312078 or by emailing admissions@thequeensschool.co.uk
