An informative and inspiring day

We embarked on our journey early in the morning, the air still crisp in the sparkling sunlight. The travel was long but never boring, filled with music, intermittently broken by the sounds of chatter.

After a quick stop to a service station, we finally arrived in the breathtaking city of Oxford, the historical architecture lining the streets in organised rows, perfectly poised like birds in flight formation.

After a brief shopping trip, grateful for the air conditioning to contrast the sweltering heat outside, we made our way to Christchurch meadow, where we sat down to eat.

I was blown away by the beauty of the meadow- it was a truly surreal experience

After lunch, where we basked in the sun or hid in the shade, it was finally time for the main event- the university! We first visited Corpus Christi college, which we found out was actually the college of our classical civilisations teacher, Miss Ellis.

I admired the 15th century architecture, especially the sundial because it made the college feel much more interesting

We were given a guided tour by the lovely Emma, who showed us the ins and outs of the small college, including the stunning chapel. Emma also gave us lots of valuable information about the admissions process, and we all left Corpus Christi feeling inspired and excited to begin our journeys into higher education.

Our next port-of-call was Oriel College, where we met a Queen’s alumna, who is currently a student there, named Hattie. Hattie provided a much different description of life at Oxford, telling us details and anecdotes of the student experience that only left us feeling more curious to experience it for ourselves.

As the day came to a close, we got back on the bus, and after a long trip home, we were all grateful to reach our beds after an informative and inspiring day.
