Summer Sporting Success

Hockey
There was international success for Emma in Year 13 who made her debut for the Welsh Senior Hockey Squad at the 2018 Hockey Open Series last month.

As a newly capped Welsh International Emma returned home having secured third place in the tournament, which sees them through to the next round.

Lowri in Year 10 and Cara in Year 11 were selected to compete in a territorial tournament for the Pennine Pumas Hockey Team, which is the equivalent of a North of England team.

Lacrosse
There was medal success for Dakota in Year 13 who was selected for the U18 Wales Lacrosse team and competed at the U20 Women’s European Championships in Poland over the summer. Wales finished the tournament as European Bronze medallists.

Ella in Year 10 and Anna in Year 11 were selected for the Metro Girls Lacrosse team on a tour to Annapolis, Maryland over the summer.

Gymnastics
It was an outstanding success for Evelyn in Year 8 when she became the North West asymmetric bars and vault champion after achieving gold medals at the North West FIG Open. She also secured a bronze medal on beam for the North West All Around Competition and was invited to train with the North West Squad. She now has a very busy schedule for the next two months competing in national and regional competitions on top of her 23 hours a week training schedule!

American Football
Congratulations to Eleanor in Year 8 for her American Football success with the Chorley Buccaneers.

Eleanor plays in the U12 Redbeards American Flag Football team. Over the summer they became Northern Champions, undefeated in all games, and at the National Finals playing against other teams from around the country, they came second. The only game they lost was the final, which was a very close game.
