Role models to inspire

Careers

We were delighted to invite back Alumnae Zoe Thornton-Reid and Kat Lewis to join with Lucy Evans in presenting three different career paths to our Year 11 and 12 as part of a Quest Careers afternoon.

Zoe left Queen’s in 2018 to study Speech and Language Therapy at Newcastle University and now works locally based in the Maelor Hospital. Her English teachers remember how enthusiastically she studied language acquisition in children during her A-level, and her specialism now she is newly qualified, is in paediatrics.

Kat studied at Durham and went into a career in Management Consultancy, but more recently is training to become a Barrister, which, Head of Careers Mrs Dawson is sure her teachers would think her keen mind is eminently suited to!

Our third speaker was a former Commonwealth medallist and experienced Marketing Manager working at Elegant Resorts luxury travel group. Lucy spoke to many of our pupils at our recent Careers Fair at Chester Racecourse, and was keen to share key messages with our pupils about employability skills and taking opportunities.
