Business Brains

Year 9 pupils have been working with Mrs Woodcock, Head of Business and Economics, as part of the Peter Jones Foundation Tycoon Enterprise Challenge 2023-24.

Five groups generated a new business idea, with the support of Year 12 A-level business students.  They then pitched their ideas to a panel including Mrs Woodcock, Head of Year 9, Mrs Larder, and Deputy Headmistress Mrs Keville.

After a round of impressive presentations from teams including ‘Merry Market Place’, ‘Eternity’, ‘Glossy Donuts’, ‘Hot Chocolate Heaven’ and ‘Mini Me’, - the final two teams taken forward to the national competition are 'Eternity' and 'Glossy Donuts'.

The 13 pupils in these groups worked with Mrs Woodcock to complete their business plans for the competition and have been successful with their submission to the Peter Jones Foundation. They have now received their business loans to start their enterprise in school.

Mrs Woodcock said: "These were high quality, impressive pitches which reflected some interesting ideas. The pupils worked well in their teams, taking on a range of roles and gaining an understanding of business. It was very difficult to choose a winner but the remaining three groups will have change to trade in school next term."

Eternity and Glossy Donuts will be selling their products - friendship bracelets, donuts, and lip-glosses, during the school production "We Will Rock You" and also at lunch times during December.
