Alumni Conversations

Careers News

A new connection has been between our Year 12 and our Alumni in the form of “Alumni Conversations” and we have been overwhelmed with the response by young women who left for university and the workplace over recent years offering their help to Year 12 to choose courses, careers and very pertinent at the moment, their universities.

With Year 12 only able to attend virtual open days at University, our “Conversations” are proving so valuable in getting the full lowdown of where to go! Recently we have heard from both Kat Lewis and Lily Spillane about the daunting task of choosing a college at Durham! Both regaled tales of Hill verses Bailey colleges with many amusing stories, top tips, and a real connection with our current pupils.

We also linked with Lydia Williams who studied music at the University of York and now works as a Creative Director for Microsoft in Seattle. Lydia shows how a creative degree can lead to many different career paths, such as her role which often involves her use of storytelling whilst demonstrating Microsoft Business Applications at conferences.

Lydia was keen to say “pick something that you are excited by!”
