Our ever-popular Saturday Series transition programme returned this month with Sweet Science, where we welcomed Year 5 and 6 girls from local primary schools to The Queen’s Senior School for a morning of hands-on experiments and scientific fun!
The girls rotated through a carousel of exciting activities designed to inspire curiosity and teamwork. In Cola Cannons, they experimented with surface tension and reaction rates to see who could create the biggest fizzy explosion. Fizz ’n’ Foam gave them the chance to explore gases, pressure, and chemical reactions, while Candy Chromatography revealed the hidden pigments behind colourful sweets. Finally, in the Ice Cream Factory, science met dessert as the girls learned how salt and freezing points combine to create homemade ice cream — with plenty of smiles along the way!
The event was bursting with energy, discovery, and teamwork — a fantastic example of how fun and engaging science can be. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back for the next Saturday Series adventure, Desert Island Escape, in February!
