Here I'm running in the relay race for my House - Unicorns. I started Queen’s in reception and I have been here ever since. When I think of the Lower School all my memories are of happiness and fun. As well as learning our maths and English, we were taught how to be a good friend and to be determined. The message was we could be anything that we wanted to be.
My favourite school play ever! As well as academics, Queen’s encourages our creative side. I had so much fun playing Mowgli. Since then I’ve always been involved in creative extracurricular activities for fun. In Senior School I focused more on music and was able to achieve grade 6 trumpet, playing in several school bands, and grade 8 guitar, which I play to relax. Teachers at Queen’s encourage everyone to get involved and promote music and drama at all levels.
This picture was taken in Year 9 at the 2014 Northern Finals. We narrowly lost on penalties in the final and didn’t make it to Nationals. It was so disappointing not to win, but as Captain I didn’t want our team to be discouraged. The sports teachers made us see how well we had done getting that far in the competition. Even though our team didn’t make it to the National Finals, we all enjoyed playing together right up until the end of Year 13. The emphasis was on having fun and enjoying the team spirit.
Through school I have completed my 3 Duke of Edinburgh awards. During the Gold, I volunteered at our local hospital every week. This picture was taken at the Gold Award ceremony at Buckingham Palace. The oldest girls in the school are given leadership responsibilities. I’ve really enjoyed supporting and leading younger girls as House Captain. We also get the chance to entertain the school by writing our own pantomime and on ‘muck up day’ which was a great way to end our time at Queen’s.
I’m so excited to study medicine at the University of Liverpool. I feel very lucky for the opportunities and support given to me by Queen’s. I am going to miss the school and teachers, but thanks to my time here I feel ready to take on the next chapter.
