I remember I was really nervous but as soon as I got there all the teachers were really warm and friendly. I was on the waiting list and then I got a place not long after this. I remember Miss Platt who was my first form teacher. On the taster day I felt like I was already at the school and then when I came home I asked my mum if I could start the next day.
This was at AJIS in Year 6 and I had obviously settled in quite well by now. I knew that sport was a passion of mine even at that age and my parents knew that at Queen’s this side of me would flourish because there were so many opportunities. I didn’t know anything about hockey but I got put straight into the first team. They threw me in at the deep end I suppose because they saw my potential.
I remember being quite shocked that I got one of the main roles with a solo because I don’t consider myself to be musical. Although drama also isn’t really my thing, I have had the opportunity to present and speak to groups of people in assemblies and for House competitions which has been really useful. I've also had piano lessons throughout my time at Queen's.
Sport has definitely developed my confidence and helped me adapt to being out of my comfort zone. As Lacrosse Captain, I have become confident in making decisions and having to stand by them when challenged. It’s helped me to get on with girls from across all the years, spotting and developing talent and making sure we’re working well as a team.
I'm heading to Leeds to study biomedical sciences. Not sure beyond that yet, but I want to be happy doing a job I love.
