Almost 400,000 school students from 100 countries improved their English skills by participating in the world’s biggest school literacy competition, Word Mania International.

The Word Mania competition is based on a digital word building exercise that challenges students to create as many words as they can from a board of 15 randomly generated letters in three minutes.

Students from 2,500 schools across North and South America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe competed in the competition and worldwide, students spent 4.8 million minutes - the equivalent of more than 9 years - playing 1.6 million Word Mania games and building more than 35 million words.

After a strong first placed finish in the North West area heat, Year 7 were playing well and earning points for the school.  We entered the final last week with high hopes of success in the British league.  Our girls played with intelligence and skill and finished 1st in the UK and 7th in the ENTIRE WORLD!

Well done to all students who contributed to this amazing success!
