Girls listened to Dr Maggie Aderin Pocock talk about the role of  women in science at the Thornton Research Centre.

Dr Aderin Pocock is a renowned space scientist and now presents the BBC's Sky at Night.

In her talk she explained how and why she became a scientist and most importantly, what she does as a scientist.

The talk was extremely entertaining and thoroughly inspiring. The girls came away with the assurance that you don't have to be a physics teacher if you do a physics degree!!

After the talk, the students had the chance to speak to her and ask further questions, which was particularly great for Isabelle Langton Davies who is also studying for an Astronomy GCSE.
