Four girls from Year 12 enjoyed an eventful day at UCL in London. In order to increase access to Chinese language learning at all levels, the UCL Institute of Education Confucius Institute for Schools holds this one-day event to bring together UK schools and universities who offer Chinese language and cultural studies.
In the morning the girls took part in the Chinese writing and translation workshops and listened to a panel of current university students talking about their experience of studying Mandarin at university level and potential future prospects.
In the afternoon they were able to speak to representatives from universities such as Cambridge, London School of Economics, Durham, Leeds and Nottingham and discuss the possibilities of doing a joint degree with Mandarin. There were nearly 20 top UK universities present on the day and all girls found the event very informative and insightful.
