Year 3 recently stepped back in time and experienced life in the Roman fortress of Deva.

Under the command of a very strict Roman centurian, the girls dressed in armour and marched in formation to the amphitheatre where they practised various battle manoeuvres and learnt what life in the Roman army would have been like.

The girls also attended a workshop at the Grosvenor Museum, where they were taught how to be archaeologists and given the opportunity to handle and study some real Roman artefacts.

It was an exciting and informative day and an excellent introduction to our new humanities unit, ‘Why were the Romans so powerful?’
