Pupils from Years 10 to 13 met representatives from local voluntary and not-for-profit organisations at the first QUEST Volunteering Fair. Organised in conjunction with Chester Voluntary Action, the event involved organisations such as The Countess of Chester, Cheshire Wildlife Trust, Chester Libraries, Missing People, Frodsham Youth Association and The Hospice of the Good Shepherd.
The original motivation for the event was to support our Year 12 students in finding QUEST volunteering placements as part of our ground-breaking initiative that gives every Year 12 pupil the opportunity to volunteer in the local community. However, as with all the best plans, the event evolved and this week involved girls from across key stages 4 and 5. They were very interested to find out about opportunities out of school hours that could help them develop new skills, give something back, and support their CVs, UCAS Personal Statement or, for some, their Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The event was a great success with all the exhibitors delighted by the enthusiasm of our pupils. We hope to build on the success of the event next year and look forward to hearing about the girls' volunteering experiences.
