Last week five of our languages students entered the European Commission international translation competition.
The Queen's school was chosen to represent the UK and join students from all over Europe to translate a text into their native language. Girls chose to translate from French, Spanish and German.
The aim is to raise young people's awareness of how language skills help Europeans to communicate better and the importance of diversifying the languages we learn in order to increase multilingualism and intercultural understanding.
It also sought to highlight the benefits of studying translation, given the ever-growing need for translators in Europe. The skills of translation can be tricky and our girls did a great job!
The girls will find out the results of the competition in Spring.
