Saughall Pre-School was crowned the overall winner of our inaugural Little Artists competition.
The art competition was open to all nurseries and pre-schools in the region and more than 100 works of art were submitted.
The competition will run annually as a way to reward nurseries and pre-schools who go the extra mile in encouraging creativity in their pupils.
Mrs Rachel Cookson, who set up the competition, said: “For very little children, art is such a fantastic way to learn about the world around them; they can show passion, detail, have fun, get messy and end up with something truly individual that they can take pride in and enjoy.
“The works of art that we received showed all sorts of skill – sticking and gluing, cutting and drawing, painting, colouring and even modelling. We were completely wowed by the quality.”
All of the art work has been on display at the Lower School for the past month in a special Little Artists gallery.
Prizes were given to children from all the nurseries that entered and every child received a special certificate.
This week saw the overall winners Saughall Pre-School along with four-year-old Jnae who was the individual winner, visit to collect their prizes and receive a £250 cheque.

Saughall Pre-School Manager Mrs Lynda Johnson said: “We are really thrilled to have won; the children and staff put in a lot of effort and it is lovely to have it recognised in this way.”
