Girls from the lower end of the Senior School had a chance to shine with their musical ability last week as pupils in Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 took part in our 'Music for a Summer's Evening' event.

To encourage and develop talent, only those musicians in Years 7,8 and 9 were invited to take the solo roles. There were performances from the Orchestra, Junior Choir, Senior Choir, Junior Jazz, Brass Ensemble, String Ensemble and Flute Ensemble. There were also vocal, flute, bassoon, cornet, harp and piano solos.

Performances ranged from a beautiful rendition of Ave Maria by the Junior Choir to the more recent Hold Back the River. A highlight was a composition by girls in Year 7 - Bethany and Lauren  - who composed and performed their original song. Older members of the school supported the evening with stage management, sound and lighting.

Mrs Healey said: ""Girls performed with confidence and talent far beyond their years. I am extremely proud of everyone who took part".
