Year 7 pupil Matilda spent last weekend filming a dystopian thriller set in the stunning Victoria Baths in Manchester for entry into the British Film Institute (BFI) RAW award.
BFI Raw will provide two talented individuals, one in the 15-18 age category and one in the 19-25 age category, with £5000 to develop their film making career with mentoring support and talent development for a year. The film will be a flagship short by the BFI, shown at the Future Film Festival, with another dedicated premiere at the BFI Southbank.
Set in a world where it is accepted that people living in poverty can optionally kill others in exchange for money, Matilda played the lead role of Livia, a character almost desensitised to death, but determined to help her sick mum and brother.
Prior to the role Matilda had to attend a special fight coordination workshop in London. We all look forward to seeing the finished film!
