Girls at Queen's who attended the China Autumn Camp Study Programme have recently been told that they successfully passed the Youth Chinese Test (YCT).

The girls sat the Chinese language test at their host school in Changzhou, which they attended during their cultural trip to China at the end of last year.

The YCT is an international standardised test of Chinese language proficiency. It assesses young foreign students' abilities to use Chinese in their daily and academic lives. The new YCT consists of a writing test and a speaking test, which are independent of each other.

Girls have recently received their results with three passing the test at level I, three passing level 2 and an incredible 11 girls passing at level 3.

Girls at Queen’s learn Mandarin from Year 7 and last year more than half of those taking Mandarin GCSE achieved an A* in the subject.
