Just before half term Year 5 pupil Raka joined all Year 8 and took part in the Junior Mathematical Challenge which is run by the UK mathematics Trust.
Over 250,00 pupils from across the UK sat the Junior Maths Challenge which is aimed at age 13 and below. The top 6% received a gold certificate, the next 13% silver and the next 21% a bronze.
The questions are challenging and rely not only on work covered in lessons but also spatial awareness and the ability to solve problems without a calculator.
Raka did extremely well. She won a gold certificate, the best in school and was invited to take part in the next round, the kangaroo.
