At Queen's we have long had a reputation for nurturing potential and developing talent and with this in mind, for the second year running we are hosting a competition designed for local nurseries and pre-schools called Little Artists.

We hope to build on the success of last year’s event and encourage even more little hands and minds to get creative.

Children are invited to submit a piece of art inspired by the book ‘Monkey and Me’ by Emily Gravett, which will then be exhibited at our Lower School throughout March. The fun tale of a mischievous little girl and her toy monkey encountering weird and wonderful animals on their adventures, has been chosen to coincide with 2016 marking the start of the Chinese Year of the Monkey.

We are sending out a free copy of ‘Monkey and Me’ to all those nurseries and pre-schools taking part to help inspire their little artists. Children can draw, paint, collage, sculpt, stick or even sew their masterpieces.

The main prize this year will be a bespoke Mandarin learning pack for pre-schools and nurseries along with a cash prize and several special runners-up prizes are on offer in a range of different categories. Prizes totally hundreds of pounds will be awarded to the winning nurseries and preschools.

The deadline for entries is Monday, February 22, 2016.

Last year’s overall winner was from Saughall Pre-School. After receiving the prize, Pre-School Manager Mrs Lynda Johnson said: “We are really thrilled to have won; the children and staff put in a lot of effort and it is lovely to have it recognised in this way.”

If you are from a nursery or pre- school setting and would like to take part please contact The Lower School on 01244 382843 or email
