Twelve Queen’s girls have their work displayed in a Chester hotel after winning an art competition.
The school was approached by J D Wetherspoon PLC who have opened a new hotel in the city and wanted to use pictures from our pupils as décor in the hotel bedrooms.
The pictures are based on places of interest in Chester and around 200 girls across Year 7, 8 and 9 took part in the competition with 12 pieces being chosen to be placed in the Bull and Stirrup hotel.
Head of Art Mr Tucker said: “The girls got an enormous amount out of this project, working to a specific schedule and timescale encouraged them to work in a focused manner. The possibility that their work could then be chosen to appear installed and exhibited in a local hotel really excited them. Art in practice is a valuable learning experience and all the girls did a fantastic job.”
Congratulations to the winners:
Year 7: Ruby, Tyra, Rosie Anne and Raphaela.
Year 8: Matilda, Emily, Kate and Lowry.
Year 9: Amie, Phoebe, Lavinia and Cara.
