A focus on literacy

All three of our infant year groups have had a literary focus using specific authors or text to explore new ideas - some of them with a spooky theme.

In Reception the girls have been reading 'Room on the Broom', drawing and labelling their own pictures as well as foraging for natural materials to make their very own brooms. Do you like their gnarly witchy expressions?

In Year 1 girls took the text 'Funny Bones' and explored the use of CAPITAL LETTERS to add emphasis and excitement.

Year 2 had a very exciting trip to Lady Lever Art Gallery to discover up close the work of celebrated illustrator Quentin Blake. The girls have already been introduced to Quentin's artwork through their class text 'Fantastic Mr Fox', and it was wonderful to see a host of his original ink drawings at close quarters. The girls flexed their sketching muscles in a variety of ways, including the opportunity to view and sketch some of the portraits in the gallery.

What a super creative way to start off our new half term!
