With characteristic enthusiasm and friendship, our Year 6 girls had a wonderful last week at the Lower School.
On Wednesday afternoon they entertained their parents and visitors with an emotional Moving On assembly set at their Class Reunion in 2058. As their future selves, they ‘reminisced’ about their early days at Queen’s and how they had begun their journeys to success. Parents, teachers and pupils alike enjoyed a trip down memory lane before having afternoon tea together on the lawn.
Thursday morning began with a Pool Party and Year 6, joined by their teachers, spent a very splashy hour of fun in the pool before gathering their books and possessions together for the last time. In the evening they returned to school and had great fun at a disco organised by their parents.
On their final morning our girls took time to say goodbye to all their teachers, past and present before setting off by Routemaster bus in festival style to a Barbecue and afternoon of fun at Manley Mere.
The end of term also saw us say a fond farewell to Head of Lower School, Mrs Cookson and Head of Lower School Sport Mrs Tottey.
Mrs Cookson led the Lower School with so much enthusiasm, warmth, creativity and energy since she joined in September 2014. She guided the school through many changes in that time which have developed and enriched the girls' education. Her sense of fun, her warmth and tireless energy will be missed by us all.
Mrs Tottey began her journey with Queen’s no less than 39 years ago! In her time at the school she has supported thousands of children to learn to swim, run (with pointy hands) and use a stick and ball to great effect. We would like to thank her for her special energy, spirit and heart which has truly enriched life at school.
We look forward to welcoming the new Head of Lower School Miss Iona Carmody who will lead the school from September.
