This month 140 years ago a forward-thinking group of Chester dignitaries opened The Queen's School. Today we celebrated this act at the school's annual Commemoration Service. Pupils and staff were joined by alumni, parents and grandparents to pay tribute to the school's founders and those who have worked tirelessly since then to develop it into the school it is today.
Our thanks go to Chester Cathedral and Reverend David Chesters who took the service, and a 'well done' to the Music and Drama Departments at both schools who prepared the Chamber Choir, Queen's Young Voices, our poetry groups and various soloists for their beautiful performances.
We also heard from alumna Clare Holland (Witter) '88 who is also our Alumni Officer, parent Mrs Thornton-Reid and from the Headmistresses of both Lower and Senior Schools as we said 'thank you' and looked forward to another 140 years at the forefront of girls' education.
