Celebrating World Book Day

Our Lower School girls had so much fun celebrating World Book Day and all the girls looked absolutely fabulous in their costumes to compliment our 'All Creatures Great and Small' theme.

The Infants had a fabulous outdoor parade to showcase their chosen book and animal character! They also tried to find matching characters from books and the girls joined together in groups. Year 1 girls each had a turn in the 'hot seat' talking to the class and answering questions from their audience, they had to speak as their character would, using information from their chosen story. Many of the girls also read aloud or told part of the story from memory. So many different texts to share...the girls certainly displayed their love of reading!

Year 6 discussed their favourite books and recommended them to one another. They also started to make book cover bunting to advertise their chosen books, which will hang in the classrooms when completed.

At the Senior School, lots of keen readers gathered in the library to celebrate with quizzes, competitions- and a chance to relax and watch some classic novels on DVD over lunchtime. Five lucky winners found golden tickets in the book treasure hunt while others designed book tokens for a national competition, completed word searches and caught up on all the new books available in the library. We’re now looking forward to welcoming author Frances Hardinge to the school later this month.
