This weekend saw our cadets taking part in their National Navigation Award Scheme assessment with great success. All the girls reached the standard to obtain their Bronze Award.
Two days were spent out in the Clwydian Range around the foothills of Moel Famau, map and compass in hand. Cadets took turns to navigate to set check-points, working out the distances they would travel, how long it would take them, and what features they may be able to “tick off" on the way.
A highlight, as always, was lunchtime spent in the group shelter out of the rain and wind; reminiscent of parachute games played in Lower School! The test course on day two called for concentration and problem-solving during their routes, with cadets putting their new skills, such as walking on a bearing, to the test.
Well done all!
