'Girls Go Gold' inspires Queen's pupils

The Girls Go Gold conference at The Bolton School was a fantastic experience where girls took part in a range of inspirational activities.

After an official welcome and speech from Queen's alumna Beth Tweddle MBE, the girls then went on to take part in a netball workshop with Manchester Thunder Coaches, have a seminar on the work of BBC Sport producer Victoria Cotton, enjoy a seminar on life as a BBC Sport presenter from John Watson and a podiatry workshop with Dr Lindsay Hill.

They also enjoyed four sessions from Bolton University focused on Sport Rehabilitation and Sports Science. These included a presentation on being a physiotherapist in professional sport and a workshop on the prevention of injuries. There was a practical session on fitness testing and screening along with a biomechanics session on strength and conditioning for female athletes in sport.

It was certainly a busy but highly interesting and informative day for the girls!
