All Lower School pupils took part in an exciting and jam-packed Sports Day. The morning was all about the Infants, with all girls taking part in long jump and throwing events, alongside the egg and spoon, obstacle race and sprint. The morning finished with house relays where the girls worked as a team to pass on the quoit. Phoenix were crowned Infant Sports Day winners and were awarded the house bear!
The afternoon saw the Juniors compete for valuable House points across a range of disciplines including javelin, long jump, triple jump, rounders ball throw, 600m sprint, alongside the hurdles and obstacle races. The afternoon finished with the house slalom relay followed by the 200m relay. These were all closely contested and all girls displayed fantastic team work throughout the day.
A few school records were also broken, showing the level of talent on display. These included:
- Year 3 Rounders Ball Throw – Ovea
- Year 4 Sprint and Year 4 Hurdles – Rosie
- Year 4 Long Jump – Jemima
- Year 5 Javelin – Ava
- Year 6 Rounders Ball Throw – Amélie-Rose
- Year 6 Long Jump and Year 6 sprint – Sara
- Year 6 600m – Emily
The Victrix Ludorum is awarded to the girl who scores the most points over 5 events (60m sprint, hurdles, 600m, rounders ball throw and long jump). The finals of these events took part during Sports Say and were closely contested. Imogen in Year 6 was crowned the overall winner, with Sara and Alicia in Year 6 only a few points behind, securing a joint 2nd place finish. Griffins were crowned Junior Sports Day winners and were awarded the House shield.
All pupils displayed a fantastic attitude, tried their best and supported each other throughout the day. It was a lovely, supportive atmosphere with all girls having lots of fun.
