Clare West (Dawson) is an experienced Senior Business Analyst with Project and Change Management skills. She has an extensive background in implementing new technology solutions and delivering change initiatives within the Energy Utilities Industry.

She is highly skilled at efficiently interpreting and eliciting detailed business requirements from business stakeholders. Her well-developed analytical skills enable her to rapidly understand the relationships between business needs and IT solutions.

Her natural ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders, allows her to assess their needs and support their understanding of new processes and solutions during periods of change.

Clare now lives in Australia but was keen to factor a visit to Queen’s into her UK holiday.

A Geography graduate at Leeds University with a varied career path, Clare spoke to current girls about the range of opportunities a geography degree can bring: “It was a fantastic degree to do and opened so many doors. Geography is all about processes and how different effects along the way can impact on what you put in and get out. You get a great perspective of the world and how things can be different and it is these skills that can be adapted to so many different business areas.”

When Clare left university she started a graduate management course with Royal Mail looking at processes and where efficiencies could be made. She later joined Ford working on IT systems before taking a sabbatical and travelling to Australia. Sixteen years later she is still in Australia with a husband and two children and is currently a Lead Business Analyst for nbn Australia working on building a broadband service to be rolled out across the country.
