Sixth Form entry requirements

Each year we welcome a number of applicants from other schools who choose to join us for Sixth Form.

We are proud of our reputation as a school which enables its pupils to reach the highest academic standards in a nurturing, friendly atmosphere.

Queen's has been awarded the highest level gold award in recognition of our outstanding careers provision at Queen's. The School has achieved the national Quality in Careers Standard awarded to schools and education providers who can demonstrate the importance they place on careers and how they support students to make decisions about their life after school. Achieving it shows how all staff at Queen’s embrace, promote and endorse quality careers education and recognise the part it plays in the overall success of the school and its students.

Entry to the Sixth Form for all pupils is dependent upon achieving good GCSE results - normally 7 GCSEs at grade 6 or above, with at least a 7 in your chosen subjects.

We also ask prospective pupils joining us from other schools to provide a report from your current school confirming that you are a suitable candidate to sit A-levels and we invite you to come in for a short interview. Below is an overview of the admissions process into Sixth Form at Queen's.

Admissions Process for Sixth Form

The presentation and interview normally lasts for about 20-30 minutes. This involves a 5 -10 minute presentation from you on an academic topic of your choice that you’re passionate about, followed by a Q&A session and then an interview about why you’d like to be at Queen’s.
