How to apply

At Queen's, we welcome girls to join us from the ages of four in Reception through to our Sixth Form. There are four established entry points to the school; Reception (Infants), Year 3 (Juniors), Year 7 (Seniors) and Year 12 (Sixth Form), although we do accept girls at any point, including mid-year, if there is an available space. There are entry requirements for each of these points, although at Reception this is an informal ‘stay and play’ type session. Girls currently at the Lower School have automatic entry into The Senior School.

Registration forms for 2018 entry to the school are available to download below.

There are key dates for admissions throughout the year including open days which take place in October and entrance assessments for Lower School girls and entrance examinations for Senior School girls in January.

Express an interest here for your daughter to be invited to all relevant admissions events and to receive our school literature.

We are also used to dealing with applications from families relocating from abroad and have developed a process which makes this as easy as possible for you.

Girls are more than welcome to visit the school for taster sessions and families are also encouraged to visit us and meet the Headmistress. Girls travel to the school from a 50-mile radius using a network of school and public transport.

A 'Sunrise and Sunset' before and after school club is available for Lower School pupils and Senior School pupils can arrive early and remain on site to complete homework until school closes at 6pm.

Please contact Mrs Jane Taylor on 01244 312078 or email her via for more information.

Entrance Examination/ Lower School Assessments  - More Information

Registration Forms for 2018 entry are available below.

Entrance Assessments for entry into Lower School and Entrance Examinations for entry into Senior School will take place on Monday January 15th 2018.

Lower School

Girls wanting to join the Queen's Lower School at Reception (Infants) or at Key Stage Two (Juniors) are invited in for an informal assessment before an offer can be made.

Infant Assessments

For Reception entry the assessment is made up of a series of games which the teachers and girls play together. Staff will interact with girls in a friendly and approachable way to help to keep them relaxed and happy throughout the assessment. This provides the best environment for girls to demonstrate what they can do, what they know and their potential for learning more. The assessments take around an hour in which time parents will have the opportunity to talk to Lower School teachers and have a tea or coffee in the hall.

Junior Assessments

Key Stage Two pupils are assessed across a morning which includes maths and English tests and non-verbal reasoning puzzles which are again undertaken in a relaxed, friendly environment. Parents drop off their children at the start and pick them up at the end of the assessment.

  • After the assessments have taken place formal offer letters are sent out in the post. It is important to realise that the deadline for responding to the offer is strict as we have a waiting list and need to inform these parents as quickly as possible that they have secured a place.

Sixth Form Entry

Each year we welcome a number of applicants from others schools who choose to join us for Sixth Form.

Entry to the Sixth Form for all pupils is dependant upon achieving good GCSE results - normally 7 GCSEs at grade B or above with an least an A in your chosen subjects.

We also ask prospective pupils joining us from other schools to provide a report from your current school confirming that you are a suitable candidate to sit A-levels and we invite you to come in for a short interview.

For further details please contact Admissions Officer Jane Taylor on 01244 312078.
