The Lower School gathered for a surprise farewell picnic to celebrate Miss Carmody, our much-loved Head of Lower School for the past seven years, as she prepares to leave Queen’s.
Taking place on the field, right beside the forest where Miss Carmody has shared so many joyful Forest School moment with the girls, the celebration began with a moving performance of The Queen’s School Song. This was followed by a series of wonderful performances from each year group:
Reception delighted everyone with Twinkle, Twinkle, while Year 1 gave a joyful rendition of Truly Scrumptious. Year 2 sang You Are My Sunshine, and Year 3 shared a thoughtful poem about Miss Carmody. Years 4 and 5 joined forces to sing Try Everything, and Year 6 closed the tributes with their heartfelt original poem, Miss Carmody.
The performances were full of joy and emotion, a true reflection of the love and appreciation the girls feel for Miss Carmody.
After the performances, the girls enjoyed a special picnic lunch with ice lollies, followed by fun and games on the grass, including giant Chess and Snakes and Ladders sets that added to the celebratory atmosphere.
Miss Carmody’s warmth, energy, and dedication have made a lasting impact on the Queen’s community. She will be deeply missed, and we wish her every happiness in the next chapter of her journey.
