On behalf of the QSPA, welcome to The Queen's School.
We hope that both you and your daughters enjoy your time as members of The Queen's School family. Parents automatically become members of QSPA when their daughters join The Queen's School.
The QSPA became a charity in January 2013. Our board of trustees includes parents, parent governors and both Headmistresses. The Annual General Meeting is held during the Spring term of the school year, during which we publish our accounts and elect new officers to the Event Planning Committee.
We are led by a team of active and enthusiastic parents, who organise and manage social events to enhance and support the school community: we "friendraise" while we fundraise. Our events raise money to support school projects for equipment and resources to enhance the education of our girls at school.
Our past events include: The Queen's School Garden Party, and QSPA Golf Day, which are held every summer; wine tasting and epicurean evenings; fashion/trashion shows. Our Easter and Halloween Bingos for Lower School girls and families are extremely popular, and the twice termly coffee mornings and second hand uniform sales - "drop in at drop off" - are informal get togethers for both Senior and Lower School parents. Our showpiece fundraiser is the fabulous Queen's School Ball: the 'From Hollywood to Bollywood Ball', held in May at Chester Racecourse, was a colourful and glamorous celebration enjoyed by Queen's families and teaching staff.
In the past 10 years, pupils, parents, staff and friends of The Queen's School have raised over £140 000, which is an amazing achievement. We have provided funds for items as diverse as playground equipment for KS1 and KS2 (Tweddle Towers), minibuses, pianos, resources for the language laboratory. We made a sizeable donation to fund the Jubilee Pavilion, and to redevelop the Sports and Fitness Centre, which was opened in 2014. Our current initiative is for Lower School play areas and extra curricular activities: the girls have been consulted, and are looking forward to playtimes as the work is completed. A heartfelt thank you to you all for supporting our activities to provide those added extras for our daughters at The Queen's School.
We would not be able to hold our events without our wonderful volunteers, and encourage you to get involved! We always appreciate offers of help and time, however small and occasional. Whether it is to run a stall, or help set up a Bingo session, we would be very grateful. Volunteering for QSPA and participating at our events and meetings is also a great way for you to meet other parents and make new friends.
The Event Planning Committee meets twice a term, alternating at Lower and Senior Schools. We are always interested in new ideas and suggestions. If you feel you have time, ideas or anything else to contribute, or simply want to find out more please email us email@example.com
